First, from all of us at NCEF, we would like to send our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all those who sponsored, organized, and participated in April 14th’s Walk for Nepal DC event.

The event was a great success thanks to the well-coordinated efforts of many. Ultimately, the Nepalese Children’s Education Fund brought in a total sum of $2,215 USD from 54 donors, including 9 of the 29 walkers who registered on behalf of NCEF. Eighty percent of this total will be sent to NCEF by the walk’s organizers and the rest will be used for a youth-focused project that will be selected by open online voting. The registration fee to walk was $15, yielding $450 total, of which a percentage will be transferred to NCEF, again by the walk’s organizers, after administrative costs are deducted.

So what does this mean for NCEF? In average, the funds donated during this event will support the generation of approximately 20 one-year scholarships (including tuition, supplies, school bags, textbooks, and uniforms) for disadvantaged children in Nepal. This profound gift offers twenty students the chance at a quality education, vital skill sets, and a brighter future. On behalf of these students, we extend our deepest gratitude.

Furthermore, this event was a historic success. By mobilizing over 570 registered walkers and 760 sponsors for a total of over $38,000, fourteen NGOs and several youth enterprises in Nepal now have the means to make their amazing work happen.

Again, a huge thanks to our supporters, fundraisers, donors, and volunteers.
