2010/2011 NCEF Board of Directors


The board of directors at NCEF serves to give direction and vision to the organization. It is not involved in the daily functions, but constantly provides oversight and coordinates the Executive and Fundraising Committees. If you would like to participate, send an email to .


Omprakash Gnawali
Chairman

Om is a post-doctoral fellow in Computer Science at Stanford
University. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California
(USC), and M.Eng. and B.S. degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT), all in Computer Science. Om has volunteered with
NCEF since its founding in 2002. Om grew up in Kathmandu, Nepal and
has visited 27 (out of 75) districts in Nepal, many on foot. He serves
as the Chairman of the Board of NCEF..

Treasurer

Hesky lives in New York City, where he works for Google as a Software Engineer. In 2002, he received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from MIT, which is where he met Om. Together, they created NCEF based on the belief that education is the key to helping people help themselves.

Steven Kurt Lustig
Clerk

Steven has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from MIT (1993) and a MS in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech (1995). He lives in Atlanta and works as a manager in global supply chain management for a large electronics company. Steven has visited a number of countries around the world (although not Nepal) and based on those experiences, believes in supporting education for children who otherwise could not afford it.

Cecilia Mo

Cecilia Hyunjung Mo is a PhD Candidate in Political Economics at Stanford University. She holds a Master in Public Administration and International Development (MPA/ID) from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She grew up in Los Angeles and received a BA degree in Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Southern California. Upon graduation, she became a high school mathematics teacher as a 2002 Teach For America Corps Member and became passionate about education policy. Cecilia is dedicated to poverty alleviation work, and continues her work on improving the quality of education in low-income areas.

Anil Pachhai

Anil has a Masters in Computer Science from University of Minnesota Twin Cities and MBA from Golden Gate University, San Francisco. Anil has been volunteering NCEF since 2005. He has already served as Selection Committee Chair in NCEF. Currently, Anil resides, in San Francisco bay area and works as a Product Manager at Oracle Corporation.He believes education as a way to empower people and has a keen interest in helping kids get education. John Perry

John has a PhD in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science from MIT. He has MS in Management (MBA) and EE/CS from MIT and a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Utah. During college, John lived for two years among the poor in South America and believes that education is the key to unlocking opportunity. John has worked as a Scout leader.

Atul Pokharel

Atul shares a deep interest in the education of children, and is one of the founding members of NCEF. Atul is pursuing a PhD in Economics and Planning at MIT. He holds a BA in Mathematics from Princeton University (2005). At MIT, Atul is studying the Macroeconomic policies of India, Nepal and China. He is also studying how government can deliver services like primary education, drinking water, and waste management services to poor people and how technology can speed this process up.

Aadit Sitaula

Aadit lives in Boston and works as a Project Manager. Aadit has a BS in Computer Engineering/MIS and a MS in Management from Eastern Nazarene College. He believes education is an essential long-term investment for social and economic development. Inku Subedi

Inku is a Ph.D. student in Sociology at Brown University. She was a fellow at The Institute for Women's Policy Research and did her undergraduate studies in Anthropology/Sociology and Psychology at Lafayette College. She grew up in Kathmandu and have been actively involved in addressing the needs of children orphaned and displaced by the conflict in Nepal.

Kripa Upadhyay

Having earned her Juris Doctor (J.D) degree from the Seattle University School of Law in 2007, Kripa is an Immigration Attorney in Seattle, Washington. She has been actively involved with the Immigrants Rights movement for several years now. In addition to hosting free legal/education forums for the local Nepali community, she also works as a Pro-Bono attorney for the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, a non-profit organizations that provides free legal assistance to low income immigrants.
